What is a Curlinator and how does it work?
A Curlinator is a multifunctional hair accessory that is used to create 8-10 different hair bun styles as well as to create curls without the use of heat.
Does it work for thin, thick and fine hair?
Yes, it does.
Does it work for layered hair?
Absolutely, you just have to roll the layers in as you roll the Curlinator into your hair.
How long does your hair have to be?
You have to have enough hair to pull back into a ponytail in order to make a bun with the Curlinator. It has also been used on
hair all the way to the ankles. If you have hair that long, you will have to drape the hair over your shoulders first to roll it and then take it to the back once you are at an arm’s length reach to finish the roll.
How do you curl the hair using the Curlinator?
You can roll it into a bun using completely dry hair or you can just slightly dampen the hair by using a spray bottle to spritz it, or just putting a little water into the palm of your hands and applying to your hair. **You DO NOT want the hair to be wet when you put the Curlinator in if your intention is to curl it! It will not dry and curl that way.
How long to do have to leave it in the hair to curl it?
If you would like to have body wave curls-an hour or two. If you would like to have tighter spiral curls-wear it all day or overnight.
Will it fall out of my hair?
No, it does not fall out of the hair if it’s put in properly. You want to make sure to roll it all the way up until you can not roll anymore! That extra roll will make for a more secure hold! It holds the hair very securely! It is used for fitness, running, dance, cheer, and even gymnastics.
Do I have to show the fabric?
No! You can show it if you’d like to match your outfit or tuck it behind the bun if you don’t want to show it.
Can it be washed?
You can hand wash them, or put them into a garment bag and wash on gentle cycle in cold water. Lay flat to dry.
What is the Curlinator made of?
A coated wire and fabric.
QUESTIONS FROM CUSTOMERS
Melissa wrote: I’ve had a lot of women ask me if this works on African-American hair? And also do you make a smaller size for little girls and babies?
Lysette wrote: They do work in African American hair, and I have some pictures that I can share showing how nice the curls come out. Right now I do not make smaller ones, but we consider doing that in the future. We do however take custom orders.
Brianne Rorke wrote: How do you put the curlinator in your hair to make curls?
Lysette wrote: Hi Brianne, As for making the Curls, all you have to do is put your hair into the bun. Since you have more than one, you can
split you hair into 2 sections, mist it with water using a spray bottle, and put 2 of them in your hair, wear them to bed and you will wake up with curls. Do not wet your hair too much because it will not dry while up in the Curlinator. Just dampen a little. This really helps maximize the curls!! Please let me know if you have any more questions, I’d be happy to help you. This works really well and holds your hair back very nicely if put in properly. It just takes a little practice. I hope you get beautiful curls!
Carey wrote: Can you instruct me about to use the product for thick hair
Lysette wrote: Hi Carey, Thank you for contacting me. This works really great on thick hair. You can try the Standard Bun, or even the Pony Tail bun. If you are trying to curl your hair, you’ll want to slide the Curlinator as far to the ends of the hair as you can, otherwise, you can just slide it down far enough (maybe 2/3 the way down) so that you get all of it up into the bun. Begin to roll it up while keeping some tension on it so that you have a tight roll. Once you’ve rolled it up until it’s snug against your head,(that one extra roll under really helps to make it a nice and secure bun that is not flopping around), then pull it up and cross it at the top, pull it down tight, and then cross the one over the other to lock it into place. I’ve put it in extremely thick hair before, so it definitely will work. If you find that you need a larger one because your hair is so thick that it’s not long enough to criss cross at the top, then I can custom make you a longer one. Please let me know if this helps you. Thanks again!!
Laura wrote: I bought this product recently and would love to try it overnight to create soft curls for the morning. However, I can’t get it to work with my hair because I have layers. I have medium length hair with”long” layers (not real choppy). When I flip my hair over to get it into the curlinator, most of the hair in one layer falls out when I try the twisting. Can you tell me if there is a way to work this product with my type of hair? Thanks
Lysette wrote: Hi Laura, With long layers you should be able to get it all into one curlinator. Sometimes with short layers, I might recommend splitting the hair up and using one on the top half of the hair, and one on the bottom half so that you don’t lose layers, but with longer layers you should only need one. YOu shouldn’t have to flip your hair over either to put it in. Just pull all of your hair through the center slit, do one half twist to give some grip, THEN while holding on to the ends of the product, slide straight it away from your head, or possibly angled upward (just not straight down towards your shoulders bc you will lose the layers that way), and then slide to within and inch or two from the ends of the hair, and roll under all the way up to your head while keeping the hair tightly wrapped around the product itself (bc keeping the hair tightly wrapped around the wire that is inside the fabric is what will give you the curl). And the just tuck it behind the bun, or fold one over the other to lock it in place. Make sure to put this in your hair when it is clean, and brushed out well, and either dry or just very slightly dampened, NOT wet! The longer you wear it, the tighter the curls. Please let me know how that works for you! We will be posting new videos soon, but in the meantime, if needed I can send you a quick video of myself putting in my layered hair.
